This tour of Arles and Camargue is one of our
many exciting shore excursions from Marseille.
This trip begins with a visit to the 2,000-year-old
city of Arles, where you will explore its ancient
Roman monuments. You will also visit sights (Langlois
Bridge, Café la Nuit, Sanatorium) made famous
by artist Vincent Van Gogh. The artist painted
some 300 pieces during the 15 months he lived
in Arles, making his stay here Van Gogh’s most
productive period.
Next you will pass through Camargue Nature Park,
home to all kinds of flora and fauna, including
more than 400 species of birds. Your shore excursion
ends in Les Saintes Maries de la Mer, a quaint
coastal town with strong Spanish and Gypsy influences.
Here you will enjoy a traditional Provençal meal,
followed by a leisurely stroll along the town’s
pedestrian-friendly streets, before heading back to the port.
