Your private tour to Florence and Pisa starts in Florence.  On the way to Florence city center you will stop in Piazza Michelangelo for a panoramic view of Florence and the Arno Valley.  Once in Florence, you will tour the city’s highlights with your tour escort, including the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, the Santa Croce basilica, and Mercato Centrale, Florence’s go-to market for fresh food.  Your guide will accompany you to lunch or you can have lunch on your own.   NOTE: All our Livorno day trips or shore excursions to Florence, Pisa or any destinations can be fully customized for a tour that is perfect for your group, small or large.

You can also visit museums on your own. If interested, we will make a reservation for you. The Accademia, home to Michelangelo's Statue of David, is one museum easy to do without a museum guide. The Uffizi is another must-see for art aficionados; however you may want a licensed tour guide to this vast museum, containing 45 rooms of art. We'll secure reservations for a formal tour of any of Florence’s museums and churches and book a licensed museum guide if you are interested.  Supplemental cost applies.

This private tour from Livorno will also take you on a guided tour is Pisa, a Roman colony from the 2nd century B.C. A naval and commercial port, Pisa became a maritime republic in the Middle Ages, rivaling Genova, Amalfi and Venice. Its peak came in the 12th and 13th centuries, by which time Pisa controlled Corsica, Sardinia, and most of the mainland coast as far south as Civitavecchia. Most of the city's finest buildings date from this period, when the distinctive Pisan-Romanesque architectural style flourished. Since the 15th century, the city was governed by Florence, whose Medici rulers re-established the University of Pisa, where Galileo, Pisa's most famous native, once taught.

Before you return to Livorno, your guided tour of Pisa will also take you to Campo dei Miracoli, a large, grassy piazza containing Pisa's cathedral, the baptistery, the cemetery and Pisa's most famous landmark, the leaning tower. You will wander around this beautiful square and enjoy the amazing architecture.  You will be transported back to Livorno at the end of your shore excursion to Florence and Pisa.
