on your own. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 6pm for our welcome cocktail to welcome you to our fabulous small group tour of Italy to Tuscany, Umbria and Liguria. We’ll
feast tonight on Tuscan cuisine
accompanied by great local wine in an excellent
restaurant. (D)

dell'Amore between the cliff-side villages
of Riomaggiore and Manarola, you will be rewarded
by fantastic views of the ocean, olive groves,
fig trees and vineyards.
We will also go to the town
of Monterosso, whose verdant hills are dotted
with olive groves and grapevines. Monterosso
is more than just a pretty seaside view: we
will have fun exploring this lively town.
We will return to Lucca in the late afternoon
or evening. Dinner is on your own, though

your company. (B)

that will bring the history of this wonderful
place to life during our guided tour.
After Carrara, our group will travel to Pisa to pay
homage to the enormous Miracle Square and its
magnificent buildings, church, and baptistery
– not to mention the famous Leaning Tower.

you’ll have free time to explore and dinner
on your own. (B)

Florence, Pienza, Overnight in Pienza
Today we continue our tour of Tuscany. Our small group tour will take us to our next hotel in Pienza,

the locally produced delicacies.
En route to Pienza, we will make a stop in

vine, followed by a group lunch. You will have free time

In the afternoon, our group will continue touring Tuscany’s backroads
to reach the Romanesque Abbey of Sant'Antimo,
an unforgettable 9th-century Benedictine monastery. It
is a simple yet magnificent stone church, set
amongst the field of olive trees. We plan
to arrive in time to hear the monks, clad in
their white robes, chant their prayers in Latin
at the altar.

in Umbrian language using the Latin and the
Etruscan alphabets. The tablets, dating
from the 2nd century BC, document the Umbrian
civilization, from its religion to government.

A WORD FROM OUR RECENT TRAVELERS WHO ENJOYED OUR TOUR TO TUSCANY & UMBRIA
"Ning, we really enjoyed our second trip with your company. The trip is well planned, from delicious meals to nice, well-run hotels with attentive service. Our group was delightful. Everyone was glad to take a suggestion and go with it. We thoroughly enjoyed each other's company and even scheduled dinners together when they were not planned.
Raffaele, our guide, did a wonderful job at shepherding us through cities, towns, villages and countryside. Raffaele is quite knowledgeable and truly enjoys talking to people. He has a great sense of humor and shared his relationship with his family, which gave us a insight into the Italian family life. He also kept us moving and so we never were bored.
We all loved having beautiful and lively Lucca as a home base for three days. It is beautiful and has an active night life. Our visit to the small village of Pienza was also a nice change of pace from busy Lucca and the other cities we visited. The visit to the winery there was great...we ate fresh figs off their tree, tasted wine and bought some for home. York, our guide from the vineyard, was knowledgeable and pleasant. He helped us appreciate the challenges of wine making. Thanks for a great trip." -- Brad and Louise Eisenbrey, Tuscany and Umbria Group Tour
