Closings: The Vatican museum is closed for tours on Sundays, except the last Sunday of the month. Expect large crowds then. The Basilica is also closed every Wednesday because of the scheduled “Audience with the Pope.”

NOTE: Unexpected or closings do occur occasionally and also note that certain parts of the museum or Basilica may be off limits.
