magnificent stone church, set amongst the
field of olive trees. We plan to arrive in
time to hear the monks, clad in their white
robes, chant their prayers in Latin at the
altar.

olive groves and Lake Trasimeno. As you leisurely
explore Cortona’s charming medieval streets,
it will be clear why it was chosen as the setting
for the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun.” We will
visit Museo dell'Accademia Etrusca, an Etruscan
museum housed in a 13th century palazzo. The

up to the 20th century. Free time after your

In the afternoon, our Tuscany group tour
will take us to Montepulciano. It is one of the
highest of Tuscan hill towns, built along a narrow
tufa ridge, with a long main street and alleys

town, endowed with dozens of Renaissance palaces
and churches, and full of beautiful vistas and
odd little corners to discover. It is also well
known for its wine. Your guide will take you

DAY 6:

Winery, Overnight in Florence
This is the last day of our women's tour, Spotlight On Tuscany. Today we will enjoy
a guided walking tour of Lucca, one of the most graceful
and elegant cities in Tuscany, and Pisa,
home to the famous "leaning tower.”
First stop of our day trip from Florence is Pisa, a Roman colony
from the 2nd century B.C. We will tour Pisa's Campo dei
Miracoli, a large, grassy piazza containing Pisa's
cathedral, the baptistery, the cemetery and
Pisa's most famous landmark, the leaning
tower. You will wander around this beautiful
square and enjoy the amazing architecture.
Next wine tasting in Tuscany is in order. We will have a farewell lunch with
wine tasting at a local winery before we head
to Lucca, the birthplace of composer Giacomo
Puccini. Lucca, one of the most charming of Tuscany's
provincial capitals, is set inside a ring
of well-preserved Renaissance walls. The
wall is wide enough to hold small parks and
a path along the top. Founded by the Etruscans,
Lucca became a Roman colony in 180 B.C.
Everything is contained within
Lucca's wide city walls – 2.5 miles around –
and we'll give you a nice guided tour of Lucca's highlights,
from its charming squares to the beautiful churches
of San Martino and San Frediano. We will
also glimpse the city's Roman past in Lucca's
market square and medieval quarter.
You will have free time to stroll
around this charming town, walk the city walls,
climb the Guinigi tower, and enjoy the shops
