Your Provence private tour will take you to Orange, Pont du Gard, Les Baux, Roussillon, Gordes.

The Provence tour sampler is a great guided tour for travelers with limited time or first-timers
who want to get a glimpse of the region before exploring further. In the morning, you will
visit Orange, a historic town originally founded by the Romans in the 1st B.C. You will
see its Arc de Triomphe and magnificent ancient Roman Theater. Next your tour will take you on a
scenic drive through the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape. Your tour guide will provide
commentary en route about the concept of terroir, the different grape varieties, the
vinification and the aging cellars; wine tasting session included.

In the afternoon, you will visit and tour the Pont du Gard. This huge, perfectly preserved Roman
aqueduct supplied running water to the city of Nimes and beyond. This marvel of
engineering work has endured two millennia, attracting scientists, artists and visitors
from all over the world. This magnificent monument is situated at the rim of Gardon
Canyon. From its heights, one can admire the landscape of the valley and follow the flow
of the Gard River, tributary of the Rhône.

Finally, you will visit and tour three unique villages: medieval Les Baux de Provence, picturesque
Gordes and Roussillon located in the Luberon region. Les Baux de Provence is famous
for its medieval hilltop castle and village carved right out of the cliff face.  Cars are banned from the steep, winding streets, so you will have a brisk walk up the hill to the sights.

Your tour will continue your private tour to Gordes, a beautiful medieval village with stone houses perched on the hillside, and Roussillon, known for rich ochre deposits that paint the landscape various
shades of reddish-orange.  This area is right on the Lavender Trail, transformed with fragrant purple blossoms in July and August.
