Your licensed tour guide in Umbria takes you on a private tour of Torgiano, a
hilltown overlooking lush green vineyards at
the confluence of the Tiber and Chiàscio rivers.
Torgiano was originally an Etruscan enclave
and later a Roman fort. You will tour Torgiano’s
Museum of Wine, which takes you through the
history of winemaking through artifacts ranging
from wine presses to paintings. The museum,
as well as a nearby hotel, restaurant, and
winery, are owned by world-renown wine producer
Giorgio Lungarotti.
Next you will have a guided tour of Deruta, a hill town and
medieval commune known for its brightly-colored
ceramic tableware, which are exported worldwide.
Your guided tour will conclude with a trip
to Montecastello di Vibio, a pre-Roman settlement.
Today, you can still view the imposing medieval
castle, towering about the
Tevere River. The town claims an unusual record:
the smallest classical-style theater in the
world. The 99-seat Teatro della Concordia,
built in 1808, offers free afternoon tours
and periodic performances.
